The company was founded in 2014 by Ilkka Matila and Kristian Taska, two leading regional producers with extensive experience in development, financing, production, and international distribution. Together, they have contributed to over 100 film and television productions, from regional projects to internationally released titles.
They are united by a shared vision: to position the Baltic and Nordic region as a globally competitive hub for ambitious, internationally relevant audiovisual productions.
The company is jointly owned by Taska Film OÜ and Oy Saranne AB, and is a shareholder in Baltic Crime, a world sales company specialising in the international sales and distribution of Baltic and Nordic films. This connection extends Studio Iskra’s involvement beyond production, linking projects directly to international markets and distributors.
